Molly & Dom
I first met Molly back in the early fall. When she made an appointment for a consult regarding her wedding, she told me she was impossible to photograph and there were no good photos of her – ever. So much for setting the bar. I either had an impossible task or expectations that were so low I couldn’t possibly fail.
So, imagine my surprise when this beautiful statuesque brunette walks into my house. I took one look at her and challenged her on her ability to be photographed. She looked at me sheepishly (you can’t look like Molly and not know you’re attractive) and said, “I know, it doesn’t look like it, but it’s true.”
So the first thing we did after the booking was schedule an
engagement session at Cator Woolford Gardens with Molly and her fiance, Dom. I love shooting engagements there because you’re pretty much guaranteed privacy (particularly important with a client that’s a bit camera shy) and they have the coolest little bamboo forest in Atlanta. Considering how uneasy she was about taking photos, we were all really pleased with the outcome.

While I’m not sure getting her photo taken will ever be Molly’s favorite thing, she was really able to loosen up and enjoy the session by the end. Dom, who also really got into it, is one of those photo naturals. Between the engagement session and the wedding, there were very few photos of him that weren’t usable. Would that it were so for all of us.
Molly & Dom got married on February 21, 2009 at Emory Presbyterian Church. It was my first wedding of 2009 and I think I was as excited as they were. After I do an engagement shoot with a couple, I get even more invested in their wedding. I’ve seen them together, I have a better understanding of their relationship and I can’t wait to document their big day.
These guys were no exception. They’re a completely delightful couple who are clearly made for each other. I look forward to shooting their 50th wedding anniversary, if I’m still around and can still lift a camera.
Rain was predicted (as well as snow) and we were all a little nervous the week before, but the day turned out perfect, with February temps hitting almost 70! The wedding went off without a hitch and their family and friends were thrilled at their union (they’ve been together 10 years!). It was a great day. Here’s a few highlights.
